This gargantuan pterodactyl had a wing span of around 33ft, almost the wingspan of a fighter jet, and soared the skies of the Late Cretaceous period, ranging from 144 - 66 million years ago.
The first remains were found in 1971 in Texas by a UT geology student. The unfathomably huge Quetzalcoatlus is one of the largest flying animals that has ever lived; aptly named after the Mesoamerican feathered serpent god, Quetzalcoatl. When sitting on the ground, it would have been as tall as an adult giraffe!
